1. Ancient Agora of Athens
Situated at the foot of the mountain, the Ancient Agora of Athens is the most famous market of the ancient time. It was where the commercial, political, religious and cultural activities took place, and it was where democracy was born. In addition, you will find shrines, parliament, concert hall, stadium next to the market. It was the city center from the 6th century BC to the 2nd century BC and was replaced by the Roman Agora.
You will find the Temple of Hephaestus built on the mountain of Kolonos and better maintained the historical site as compared to the Parthenon. It was built to worship Hephaestus. Situated next to the entrance of Acropolis is the Stoa of Attalos, it is the only fully maintained structure from the old days. Today, it acts as the museum to display details about the old market.

2. Roman Agora of Athens
Situated just one street away from the Ancient Agora, it was built in the 2nd century BC and the area is not big. There are only some pillars behind the Gate of Athena Archegetis. The most prominent figure is the Tower of the Winds, which is hexagon structure of 12 feet tall. It is one of the best maintained structures from the Roman days. It was built in the 1st century AD with lots of different sculptures on each side.

3. Olympieio
The Olympieio started its construction in the 6th century BC and did not finish until 2nd century BC. It was used to worship Zeus.
There used to be 104 pillars of 107 feet tall and 1.7 feet wide Ionic pillars and was once the largest shrine in the world. However, due to different wars, the structure was burned down. In 1436, there were only 21 pillars remained and during the heavy rain in 1852, another 6 pillars fell off. Today, only 14 pillars together with 1 half fallen circular pillar remain. The structure does not have a large area and you do not need much time to visit this place.
